At Jouer LTD., we’re committed to exploring high-quality and user-friendly VR180 cameras. The VR180 camera system we’re introducing today is a combination of the RED cinema camera ‘V-RAPTOR 8K VV’ and the CANON VR lens ‘RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE’, making it a top-tier VR180 camera.
We’ve filmed and created an 8K60p VR180 video with this camera. At Jouer LTD., we offer rentals of this equipment, along with VR shooting, post-production editing, and the necessary setup. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to utilize this camera system when you come to Japan.

VR180
VR180 refers to a VR filming method that covers a 180-degree field of view. The converted equirectangular image for each eye is arranged side by side, allowing for a 3D experience with depth when viewed on an HMD. the total resolution for both eyes is 8K.
V-RAPTOR 8K VV
V-RAPTOR 8K VV manufactured by Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, is a cinema camera that can shoot up to 120fps at an 8K resolution (8192×4320). RED’s cinema cameras are used in professional video filming such as movie production, TV program production, advertisements, and music videos, due to their rich color expression and wide dynamic range.
The RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE
The RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE is Canon’s first VR lens, equipped with two 5.2mm fisheye lenses. These lenses project circular fisheye images onto a single sensor, enabling stable 3D VR image shooting without misalignment between the left and right lens camera settings and sync.
An ideal VR180 camera system for easily capturing high-quality VR180 footage.
The V-RAPTOR 8K VV can shoot at a maximum of 120fps in 8192×4320. It can record in RAW, which means it can convert to both 709 and 2020, as well as the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), and various Logs. Its dynamic range is vast, retaining a lot of information from shadows to highlights.
The RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE has two fisheye lenses integrated into a single camera unit, allowing VR180 shooting with just one camera. It can be treated like a regular camera lens, with the ability to set the aperture and focus. This lens does not require any special operations or expertise to synchronize two cameras or adjust lenses.
This makes it an ideal VR180 camera system for capturing high-quality VR180 with ease. We conducted a shooting test in 8K60p. Two fisheye images are displayed on one sensor.
The data recorded in RAW can be freely converted to Log or 709. For this project, we proceeded with work in 709.
By using Mistika VR, fisheye footage can be converted into an equirectangular projection.
