Entaniya Fisheye HAL Series: Real-Time VR Compositing Preview System for Virtual Production and VR Cinema Filming with 200/220/250° Ultra-Wide Angle Fisheye Lenses

Entaniya Co.,Ltd. and Jouer LTD. are pleased to announce the launch of a real-time VR compositing preview system compatible with the Entaniya Fisheye HAL series for virtual production and VR cinema filming, featuring 200/220/250° ultra-wide angle fisheye lenses. This innovative system will be available from mid-December 2023.

The Entaniya Fisheye HAL Series is a line of high-quality ultra-wide angle fisheye lenses developed, designed, and manufactured by Entaniya Co., Ltd. These lenses are compatible with cinema cameras from brands like ARRI, RED, and SONY. Jouer LTD. specializes in capturing materials for virtual production, VR filming, and constructing VR live streaming systems, delivering high-quality video content.

The real-time VR compositing preview system, optimized for the Entaniya Fisheye HAL Series, not only corrects the distortions of the ultra-wide fisheye lenses (circular fisheye) in real-time but also enables the real-time stitching of multiple camera feeds. It can convert footage into 360° and 180° formats in both 2D and 3D. The converted footage can be outputted in real-time to monitors or head-mounted displays.

The Real-Time VR Compositing Preview System allows for the immediate verification of footage during shooting, reducing uncertainties and enabling prompt adjustments. This system facilitates the creation of high-quality VR footage, leveraging the unique combination of cinema cameras and wide-angle lenses. It supports standard monitors and head-mounted displays (HMDs), as well as SDI/HDMI outputs, and remote verification. Additionally, the system offers comprehensive support for the filming process, including video assist functionality, playback, and calibration of cameras and lenses.

Key Benefits of Implementing the Real-Time VR Compositing Preview System

For the highest quality VR video production, a special combination of cinema cameras and wide-angle lenses is essential. Traditionally, post-shooting stitching and temporary previewing were necessary. However, with the introduction of the Real-Time VR Compositing Preview System, it’s now possible to correct and composite the distortions of multiple fisheye lenses in real-time, allowing immediate verification of the accuracy of the captured footage. This enables real-time validation to ensure the footage aligns with the intended vision.

In unconventional virtual productions and specialized VR shootings, it’s common for inexperienced actors and crew members to be unclear about the correct direction or visual effects until the temporary preview post-shooting. This uncertainty can lead to various issues. The implementation of the Real-Time VR Compositing Preview System allows for the real-time verification of accurate footage during the shoot, enabling immediate and appropriate adjustments.

The real-time composited footage can be viewed on standard monitors and HMDs (Head-Mounted Displays). The system also supports video output via SDI and HDMI, providing flexible connection options. Additionally, using internet connections and streaming services enables remote viewing of the footage.

By recording the footage on an external recording device, video assist functionality and playback become possible. The converted footage can be output and provided to the shooting crew as a video assist. This facilitates shared viewing of footage among the crew in specialized shooting environments, enabling efficient communication.

For optimal video quality, the specifications, number of cameras used, and the focal length of the lenses (wide-angle lenses) are crucial. Our system supports combinations of multiple cameras and lenses, and precise adjustments can be made using calibration boards. This allows for rapid verification and calibration of cinema cameras with Entaniya lenses.
